Meet Laureen Leyden
Integrative Dietitian & Whole-Person Balanced Health Guide
I entered the world in 1983 feet first — a breech birth, which in one of my ancestral homelands, the Philippines, is seen as a sign a healer has arrived. At six weeks old, I was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare congenital liver disease, and I still live with my native liver today — a daily reminder of resilience and the power of nurturing the body. Alongside this journey of survival, I grew up sensing ancestral wisdom and intuition quietly flowing through me, gifts passed down through my family’s bloodline. These inner resources, combined with the lessons of my father — especially his words, “Food should be your medicine” — have shaped the path I walk today: learning, healing, and guiding others toward balance, wholeness, and vibrant health.
I pursued a Master of Science in Gerontology to understand the body, mind, and spirit across the lifespan, then became a Registered Dietitian specializing in chronic disease, nutrigenetics, and integrative nutrition. Training in Dietetics and Integrative Medicine allowed me to bridge modern science with ancestral wisdom, creating an approach that is practical, grounded, and deeply intuitive. While integrative approaches often rely on costly lab tests or services that may not be covered by insurance, I focus on tools and practices that you can access and integrate into daily life. My work helps people reconnect with their bodies, manage stress and fatigue, support digestion and hormones, restore energy, and cultivate a sense of calm and clarity.
Living with my native liver every day reminds me of resilience, presence, and the sacredness of health. Beyond my work, I explore creativity and movement — crafting recipes for my first cookbook, drawing manta ray designs, and practicing Ori Tahiti and Indigenous movement arts. These practices keep me grounded, connected, and inspired, and they infuse everything I do as I guide others toward nourishing their whole selves.
Why take a whole-person approach to wellness?
It can help with

Digestion
Supporting your gut health can ease bloating, discomfort, and irregularity while improving nutrient absorption, mood, and overall vitality.
Fatigue
Addressing the root causes of low energy — from nutrition and sleep to stress and hormonal balance — helps restore resilience and daily vitality.
Weight Balance
Understanding your unique metabolism, stress patterns, and lifestyle rhythms creates a more compassionate, sustainable approach to weight balance.

Chronic Disease Prevention or Management
Evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle support can help prevent, stabilize, or manage conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, chronic kidney disease and other chronic concerns.
Women's Health
Whole-person care supports hormonal shifts, menstrual health, fertility, perimenopause, and the many phases of a woman’s wellness journey.
Stress
Integrating nutrition, lifestyle practices, and mind-body tools helps regulate the nervous system, ease overwhelm, and cultivate a sense of calm and clarity.
When your body, mind, and spirit are in balance, it can help reduce stress and fatigue, support digestion, balance hormones, restore energy and resilience, and cultivate a sense of calm, clarity, and connection to your body’s innate wisdom
Services
Start with the two foundational sessions, then continue with optional follow-ups as you need them.

First Session
Comprehensive Assessment:
This first foundational session is the starting point for all clients. Together, we explore your health history, current concerns, symptoms, lifestyle patterns, and nutrition habits to understand the full picture of your well-being. This assessment helps identify root causes, set clear goals, and create a personalized roadmap for your care.
This session is required before beginning any additional work.
Please note: If using your health insurance for payment, a completed Medical Nutrition Therapy Form must be received at least 24 hours before this first appointment. Please upload it in the “Documentation” section of the secure portal.

Second Session
Holistic Wellness Prescription:
In this second foundational session, we weave together your assessment results, lifestyle patterns, and whole-person needs to create a tailored plan that aligns with your body, mind, and spirit. We’ll review your recommendations together and outline clear, sustainable next steps.
This session is also required, as it builds upon the initial assessment and forms the foundation of your ongoing care.
Please note: If using your health insurance for payment, any recent lab reports from the past 6–12 months must be received at least 48 hours before this second appointment. Please upload it in the “Documentation” section of the secure portal.

Follow Up Session
Follow-up sessions are available as needed for continued guidance and support.
These sessions are an opportunity to:
-
Discuss your progress and make adjustments to your plan
-
Address any new health concerns or lab results
-
Get advice on supplements, meal planning, or lifestyle changes
-
Ask any questions that may have come up since your last session
These sessions provide accountability, clarity, and continued guidance so you can move forward feeling balanced, nourished, and confident.
Follow-ups are optional and can be scheduled at any time. Please note that if you’re using health insurance, the number of covered follow-up sessions will depend on your plan’s benefits.
